About & how we assess

Why this site exists

Most pages ranking for these products are either retailer category pages or thin affiliate pages that restate the spec sheet in different words. Neither answers the question people actually have: is this the right one for me, and what will annoy me about it in three months.

Where the recommendations come from

We are explicit about this, because most sites are not. We do not run a laboratory and we do not claim to have measured anything ourselves. Our assessments come from manufacturer specifications, material and construction data, published user reviews read in volume rather than sampled, and the physical constraints of the category. A motor of a given size produces a predictable amount of noise. A soft silicone surface damps vibration in a predictable way. An opening that has to be cleaned with a brush gets used less often than a flat surface that rinses clean. Those relationships hold across products, and they are what the guides are built on.

What we do not do

We do not accept payment for a ranking, a verdict or a mention. We do not publish a claim we cannot trace to a source. We do not describe products we have no information about, and we do not fill gaps in the evidence with confident-sounding prose. Where something is genuinely unknown, the text says so.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will correct it and note the change. Specifications move, and manufacturers revise products without changing the model name.
